Building Brigadoon (or at least the office space)
March 29th, 2007
When we talk about building Brigadoon from the ground up, we literally mean starting from scratch, including our office space.
Thanks to the generosity of some Brigadoon’s biggest supporters, the good people at The Trail Shop, and the unwavering determination of two Dalhousie students (Michael Smith, Ryan Enta) and two Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (Ashley Thompson, Amy Wetton), we went from Dave’s apartment and 1995 Honda Civic Hatchback (you’d be surprised at how many files you can store in the back of a Civic Hatchback) to comfortable loft living.

Say hello to the Big Bad Brigadoon Reno Crew "Mike Smith, Amy Wetton, Ashley
Thompson and Ryan Enta" four extremely industrious student interns. Internship
agreements were forged between Brigadoon and the respective university of each student.
As "teaching" and "experiential learning" are tenants of the Brigadoon mission - students
have always been involved with our development.
The internships were for 4 months - each student received a B+ or above for their efforts.
Their work and documentation of design and administrative systems was superb.

The entire office was renovated for less than $600.
Thanks to all who donated furniture, tools and time. Special thanks to Office Interiors
(John Mullally) for a mind-blowing chair and JJ McKeage for the desks and filing cabinets.
We are eternally grateful to our new landlords - The Trail Shop for the donation of space.
We never could have done it without the support, enthusiasm and generosity of our
Brigadoon community.

We were very fortunate to have furniture donated to the office and great
movers (Thanks Thompsons Moving)! to get the donations from
point A to point B. The students coordinated all the logistics.
