ORGANIZING A FUNDRAISER
Many volunteers choose to organize their own small fundraiser in support of Brigadoon. A number of volunteers have had successful fundraisers, you can check out a few of them below. If you are interested in organizing a small fundraiser, please read the Third Party Fundraiser Agreement and submit your application for approval. As we like to say, 'It takes a village to build a village.' We invite you to volunteer and join the Brigadoon community. The Honey Badgers: Mark Campbell and Jodi Isenor
Mark and Jodi ran the typical 17-person team Cabot Trail Relay this year as a team of two in support of Brigadoon. By collecting pledges online using a Canada Helps giving page they raised a significant amount of awareness and financial support for Brigadoon.
The Ben Nevis Climb: Andrew and Lindsay McQuinn Andrew and Lindsay were living in Scotland and decided they wanted to fundraise for Brigadoon. They got a group of volunteers together to collect pledges to climb the highest mountain in Scotland - Ben Nevis. They carried rocks to the top of Ben Nevis with wishes of children from the IWK Health Centre painted on them. This unique international fundraiser was a huge success.
Blue Nose Marathon: The Brigadoon Bunch Brigadoon was chosen as a charity of choice for the Blue Nose Marathon; a team of dedicated volunteers raised funds through pledges and completed one of the four races offered that day (5km, 10km, half marathon, full marathon). It was a fun team atmosphere and the accomplishment of finishing the race was sweetened by the knowledge that it was for a good cause. We look forward to the next Blue Nose Marathon.
Wedding Bells: Glenn and Lesley
When Glenn Bowie and Lesley MacLeod were planning their wedding, they discussed what they could do on the day to help support Brigadoon. It was amazing to everyone at Brigadoon that what they came up with was to ask their guests to make a donation to Brigadoon in lieu of receiving a wedding gift! A very generous fundraiser that Brigadoon was thrilled to be included in! Happy Birthday: Alex Ponikvar
When Alex Ponikvar was turning 6 he decided to something even most adults wouldn’t think of! In his invitations to his friends he asked that instead of gifts, they bring with them a donation to Brigadoon. His mother told us as he became more and more excited with each envelope he opened! Alex hand delivered the donation to Brigadoon and we were so happy to see how proud he was!
Candy Sale: Emily Whitty
We were so excited one year to receive mail from four-year-old Emily Whitty. There was a cheque inside for Brigadoon and a card that read: “Dear Camp B, This summer I had a candy sale. I raised $113.14. I hope this helps. Love, Emily Whitty, 4.” It certainly did help, and was a great example that no matter your age, you can find a way to make a difference!
